The name Charlotte Kensington comes from my two favorite places. (704) Charlotte, North Carolina and Kensington, London. Being born and raised in Charlotte, had a huge impact on the woman that I am today. Kensington, made me fall even more in love with fashion. The palaces and gardens are some of the most beautiful sights to see. The combination of the names just has a good ring to it, don't you think?

I have always loved the art of crafting and have created things my whole life; from making clothing for my Barbie dolls, as a child, to designing and sewing my own wedding dress. My formal career began when I received a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising and Design from the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (AggiePride). During this time, I had the opportunity to study abroad in China, Paris and London to learn under designers like Vivian Westwood, to dive deeper into the world of celebrity styling. 

I started designing lapel pins because the styles I envisioned were/are not yet on the market. I believe details make an outfit and I love the personalization and decorative look lapel pins add to an overall look. In Spring of 2010, I pledged The Alpha Phi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated which is an obvious inspiration for the debut pieces in my lapel pin line, Pin Pals. 

I am a homeschooling mom of 3 beautiful children. In addition to crafting, I have the privilege of co-designing hairbows and toddler clothing with my daughter (coming soon).

I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you all and seeing where my ideas take me.
